I'm *About* on a Boat: Cruising the Inside Passage
My earliest memories in life are that of me traveling. I've had somewhat of a romance with it. There's a painting of me at my mom's house that my cousin did on one of our many family beach trips, in which I'm sitting on the back porch of our beach house, staring so fixedly at the waves crashing ashore, like most little boys may stare into the eyes of their first childhood crush. My fascination with the ocean began at an early age, yet here I am, over 20 years later, and I'm only now preparing for my first cruise, with Norwegian Cruise Lines and Expedia through the Inside Passage up to Alaska.
Born into a family struck with a serious case of wanderlust and as a travel writer for the last four years, I've done my share of traveling. Yet in the middle of a bucket list with many crossed off items, there remained a couple rather surprising items that hadn't been crossed off: Traveling by way of a cruise and exploring Alaska. In just a couple months in mid-July, I'll be able to cross both of these items off on one trip. I'll be cruising the high seas of the Pacific Northwest aboard a floating resort, the Norwegian Jewel. This one week cruise will embark from Seattle and travel north toward Alaska, with numerous stops in both Alaska and Canada, before disembarking back in Seattle.
As if this trip couldn't get any more extraordinary for me, Expedia has added a spin. You can travel with me! No, I don't mean virtually, although you'll be able to do that following along here on Expedia.com, Twitter, Facebook, and my blog. I mean you can actually cruise along with me. We can eat chocolate-covered strawberries and sip on Prosecco while watching glaciers float by. If you ask nicely, I may even juggle. Won't you join me?
